(Washington, DC) – This afternoon, Mayor Muriel Bowser will kick-off this summer’s outdoor pool season for the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) at Banneker Pool. DPR has 18 outdoor pools, 24 spray parks and four children's pools, as well as 11 indoor pools. All outdoor aquatic facilities will open officially on Saturday, May 23.

The Mayor highlighted the importance of ensuring children and teens are up-to-date on the measles vaccine and announced sites across DC where families can access free immunizations.
Mayor Bowser broke ground on the Ward 1 Short-Term Family Housing, the final building in the Mayor’s plan to replace the DC General Family Shelter with dignified, service-enriched programs across DC. The Ward 1 site will include 35 apartment-style emergency shelter units for families and 15 permanent supportive housing apartments for senior women.
