Statement on December 2018 Revenue Estimates

Friday, December 28, 2018

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the DC Government released the revised revenue estimates for the FY 2019-2022 District of Columbia Budget and Financial Plan. The forecast for local fund revenues remains unchanged from September 2018. In response to the new estimates, Mayor Bowser released the following statement:

“The new revised revenue estimates demonstrate that the District continues on a positive financial course, but that developments outside of our local control – primarily the federal government shutdown and volatility in the stock market – remain as threats to the prosperity of Washingtonians and Americans throughout the nation. In these estimates, we see another argument for statehood and another reason President Trump must work quickly to reach a deal with Congress and allow all federal employees to return to work. Strong local policies and a more diverse DC economy are keeping us on the right economic track, and as we continue fighting for the representation we deserve in Congress so that DC residents have a say on important national issues that affect all Americans, the Bowser Administration will continue to be strong stewards of our city’s resources.”
