Mayor Bowser to Cut Ribbon on New Arboretum Community Center

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, November 5 at 2 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser, District officials, and community members will cut the ribbon on the new Arboretum Community Center in Ward 5. The historic recreation center, formerly a 1,400-square-foot field house and located adjacent to the National Arboretum, underwent a $10.8 million restoration and renovation and is now a modern, 8,000-square-foot, LEED-certified facility.

This project began in October 2015 and has been completed through the combined efforts of community partners, the Department of General Services, and the Department of Parks and Recreation. The new facility includes all new indoor and outdoor amenities, such as a fitness center and meeting rooms for all community members to enjoy.
