(Washington, DC) – In May, at the ICSC Global Retail Real Estate Convention, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that through collaborations with Ward 8 Councilmember Trayon White and Ward 5 Councilmember Kenyan McDuffie, Chairperson of the Committee on Business and Economic Development, the Bowser Administration would reintroduce legislation for the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) for Reunion Square, moving forward a mixed-use development project that will create affordable housing for seniors and support small business growth in Ward 8. This week, after introducing legislation to the Council, the Mayor released the following statement:

At a time when we are very focused on keeping DC affordable for seniors, families, and longtime Washingtonians and ensuring that residents and entrepreneurs in every corner of our city have opportunities to participate in DC’s prosperity, this TIF will help us do both. We urge the Council to act quickly in moving this legislation forward so that, together, we can build and expand new opportunities in Ward 8 and beyond.”
