Coronavirus Data for December 23, 2020

(Washington, DC) – The District’s reported data for Wednesday, December 23, 2020 includes 210 new positive coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, bringing the District’s overall positive case total to 27,436.

The District reported that five additional residents lost their lives due to COVID-19.

  • 58-year-old male
  • 63-year-old male
  • 65-year-old female
  • 79-year-old female
  • 83-year-old female

Tragically, 756 District residents have lost their lives due to COVID-19.

Out of respect for the health professionals who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic, DC Health will not report data on Christmas Day, December 25, to allow these health professionals to rest this holiday. The data report sent on Saturday, December 26, will include numbers from December 24. The data report sent on Sunday, December 27, will include numbers from December 25 and 26.

Guidance has been published for healthcare providers, employers and the public to provide information on what to do if you have been diagnosed with or are a contact of someone who has COVID-19.

Residents should take the following actions to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. An alcohol-based hand sanitizer can be used if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
