In February, Mayor Muriel Bowser invited residents to join her at the 12th annual Budget Engagement Forums. The forum offered residents the opportunity to share their priorities, values, and ideas with the Mayor before she sends the FY27 budget to the Council.

During the forums, residents received an overview of the current budget environment, heard from other residents about their priorities, and participated in small group discussions about how the Mayor should allocate funds in the upcoming budget.
Last year, more than 1,000 residents participated in the budget engagement process to offer ideas, identify community priorities, and help inform key funding decisions. Since launching the initiative in 2015, Mayor Bowser has hosted 36 forums and incorporated community feedback into funding decisions that have shaped investments across the city.
