(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) are inviting residents to celebrate Women’s History Month at events happening throughout March.
“In telling stories of the District, DC women’s achievements, knowledge and plans hold significant importance,” said Natasha Dupee, the Director of the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives. “Women's History Month is a season for remembrance, celebration and inspiring action.”
Residents are invited to attend any of the following events to celebrate Women’s History Month:
2nd Annual MPD Women’s Conference
This free conference is open to men and women of all professions who are interested in networking and fostering personal and professional development.

StartSmart Salary Negotiation Workshop
In partnership with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Metropolitan Washington, DC Chapter and AAUW, join MOWPI for an empowering wage and salary negotiation workshop designed to help women confidently advocate for their worth! Whether you're negotiating a new job offer or a raise, this workshop will provide practical tools and expert insights to boost your confidence and success.

International Women’s Day Celebration
A celebration, showcasing the incredible talent of local female chefs from the DMV area! This one-of-a-kind event will highlight the artistry, passion, and culinary excellence of women.

7th Annual FITDC HerStory 5K
Mayor Bowser is inviting residents to register for the 7th Annual FITDC HerStory 5K. The 5K will start at Freedom Plaza in Downtown DC. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 10:00 a.m. The 5K is free and open to people of all ages and abilities. The Kids Dash, for children 12 and under, returns this year, giving little ones a chance to join in on the fun! Kids Dash participants will receive a special t-shirt giveaway before taking part in a modified "race" on the 5K route.

Let Her Cook: Ingredients For Doing Business In The District
The landscape in grantmaking is an ever-present consideration for aspiring and current entrepreneurs and non-profit leaders. This event provides access to industry leaders in asset management and business expansion via a fireside chat, breakout sessions, and networking segments.

#BeTheMovement Women’s Policy Bootcamp
This event is a continuation of our annual programming, in partnership with the DC Commission for Women. This event will convene women from across DC to enrich their awareness of advocacy and review opportunities to engage with DC government to improve local communities.

Spring Into Screening With LUNGevity Foundation

Join Mayor Muriel Bowser and members of her Administration as they honor outstanding women for their commitment, leadership and excellence across all eight wards. Each year, honorees are nominated by members of the DC Commission for Women, MOWPI and Mayor Bowser’s senior staff. Final selections are made by Mayor Bowser.

Moving Forward Together: Women’s History Month Table Talk
This event will be a conversation that goes beyond the troubling statistics about women’s health challenges. In a wide-ranging conversation that calls on their personal experience as well as their research, interviews, workshops and presentations, each presenter will offer action-plans that can become part of a healthy woman’s life and lifestyle. Questions from and interaction with attendees is a vital aspect of the presentation. Each of the presenters will also address how their lives as writers have played an indispensable role in sustaining their mental health.
