The Working Group to Hold First Meeting on Jobs, Wages, and Benefits

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Working Group on Jobs, Wages, and Benefits (WGJWB) will host its first meeting that will result in recommendations on legislative, programmatic, and policy ways to improve the District’s economic competitiveness, attract and retain businesses and employees, protect and promote commercial diversity, and create and preserve good paying jobs. Mayor Bowser initially announced plans for the working group during her 2016 State of the District Address and formally established the WGJWB by Mayor’s Order 2016-083 on May 26, 2016.

The working group includes three representatives each from the executive branch, the legislative branch, labor unions, worker advocate organization, the business community, and the public. All recommendations will be sent to the Mayor by the end of the year with community input.
