Statement on the Two-Year Anniversary of the Declaration of a Public Health Emergency in Washington, DC

Friday, March 11, 2022

(Washington, DC) Today, on the two-year anniversary of the declaration of a public health emergency in Washington, DC and the one-year anniversary of the enactment of the American Rescue Plan Act, Mayor Muriel Bowser released the following statement:

“Two years ago, we couldn’t even imagine what lay ahead of us – the monumental challenges that we would face, the loss we would endure, and how our lives and community would be upended. But we were certain of one fact: that we were in it together, and we would get through it together. And DC has done just that – together, we stayed home, masked up, got tested and vaccinated, and worked relentlessly to keep each other safe, get our children back in school, and get our city open. Now, as we look towards the future, we go into spring with a renewed sense of hope. Our comeback has started, we are feeling the joy of being back together with friends and community, and we are focused on getting Washingtonians connected to all the opportunity that exists in our city. DC is open and we are still in this together.”
