Statement on September 2021 Revenue Estimates

Thursday, September 30, 2021

(Washington, DC) – Today, the DC Government released the revised revenue estimates for the FY 2021-2025 District of Columbia Budget and Financial Plan. The revised estimate forecast for local fund revenues is revised upward by $1.1 billion for the current fiscal year and the next four years of the financial plan, which begins tomorrow on October 1. This is the fourth consecutive forecast that has shown improvement since September 2020. In response to the new estimates, Mayor Bowser released the following statement:

“DC is open and our comeback has started. These revenue estimates are a reflection of our community’s determination to crush the virus, to protect each other and support local businesses, and to bring our beautiful city back to life. Still, there’s more to do. We need more people vaccinated. We need more employers to put their return to work plans into action. And we need to stay focused on how, one day at a time, we find a new normal that works for Washington, DC and that gives more Washingtonians a fair shot. As the new fiscal year begins, we’re ready to make the historic investments necessary to get more residents, especially those hit hardest by the pandemic, on pathways to the middle class.”
