(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued the following statement after a new public opinion survey found that a majority of residents view DC government services as either good or excellent, a dramatic improvement in public opinion compared to the last survey conducted in 1997.
“When I took office in 2015, I set out to lead a government that delivers services effectively and professionally to residents and businesses across all eight wards. Nearly five years later, DC government is excelling in a lot of ways – we’re accountable, we’re responsive, and people are voting with their feet by moving to – and staying in – the District. I am proud of the work that our 37,000 public employees do day in and day out to achieve that mission and to earn and keep the trust and satisfaction of the community we serve. We operate as a city, state, county, and school district with a commitment to continuous improvement. Of course, we still have more work to do – we still have citywide challenges that require citywide solutions. But in 2019, I am confident – and our community is, too – that we have the people and ideas in place to keep Washington, DC moving forward.”
