(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Bowser released the following statement on the passing of former Councilmember Sharon Ambrose:
“I am saddened to hear of Councilmember Sharon Ambrose’s passing. During her career and as the Ward 6 Councilmember, Ambrose was a champion for District families, strong neighborhoods, and public safety. She was a leader in fighting for economic progress in the District and her legacy in Ward 6 includes her monumental role in many of the city’s development projects, including Nationals Park and the Navy Yard and Barracks Row and H Street corridors. She also helped guide key legislation through the Council that spurred investment in Anacostia Waterfront parks and infrastructure. Ambrose was a valuable voice of and for DC communities and she will be deeply missed.”
