Statement on May 2021 Revenue Estimates

Friday, May 14, 2021

(Washington, DC) – Today, the DC Government released the revised revenue estimates for the FY 2021-2025 District of Columbia Budget and Financial Plan. The revised estimate is the third consecutive forecast that has shown improvement since September 2020. In response to the new estimates, Mayor Bowser released the following statement:

“When the revenue estimates came out in February, we were hopeful that with federal stimulus funds and widespread access to vaccines, the economy would continue to improve – and that is exactly what has happened. Before this pandemic, DC taxpayers helped us build a strong and resilient economy, one that allowed us to respond to the needs of our community when COVID-19 hit. Over the past 15 months, DC residents and businesses have gone above and beyond to protect our community and get us to the other side of this. Because of these efforts, we are now able to dial up more activities, reunite with friends and family, and get back to enjoying all DC has to offer. Of course, we continue to urge anyone who has not yet been vaccinated to take the vaccine as soon as possible so that they can safely enjoy DC and play a role in our collective comeback.”
