(Washington, DC) Today, Mayor Bowser joined Cities for Action in calling on the President to defend DREAMers. Following the release of the letter, which can be found HERE, the Mayor released the following statement:
“Washington, DC remains steadfastly committed to promoting and defending DC values. This includes supporting our residents who seek life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, and we urge the President to uphold our country’s commitment to our DREAMers.
“The DACA program is about supporting young immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and who are now looking for opportunities to legally work and go to school in the country they know as home. It is true for Washington, DC that we are safer and stronger not simply because we are diverse, but because we embrace and celebrate our diversity. Now is the time for this to be true of our nation, too.”

Es cierto que en Washington, DC somos una comunidad más segura y fuerte no simplemente porque somos diversos, sino porque recibimos con los brazos abiertos y celebramos nuestra diversidad. Ahora es el momento para que esto también sea cierto para nuestra nación.”
