With Over $300 Million Invested in the Recovery of DC Businesses, Mayor Bowser to Announce the Latest Grants for Local Entrepreneurs and Small Businesses

Wednesday, May 25, 2022

(Washington, DC) On Thursday, May 26, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) will announce the FY22 awardees of the $1.7 million Great Streets Retail Small Business grant program, the $317,000 Locally Made grant program, and the $4 million Neighborhood Prosperity Fund. These grants will build on the more than $300 million in recovery support that the District has invested in DC businesses since 2020.

The Great Streets Small Business Grants program is designed to create commercial vibrancy along the city’s emerging corridors and surrounding neighborhoods by supporting existing small businesses, attracting new businesses, and creating jobs for District residents.

The Locally Made Manufacturing Grant supports capital or tenant improvements of commercial property with designated industrial use located in a Great Streets corridor for qualified small business and real estate developers whose core business aligns with light manufacturing.

The Neighborhood Prosperity Fund incentivizes community development, economic growth, and job creation by leveraging local funds to provide gap financing for projects that attract private investment to historically disadvantaged communities.

A total of 65 businesses will be awarded grants, with investments ranging from $50,000 - $750,000.
