Mayor Muriel Bowser to Host the 2022 National Maternal and Infant Health Summit

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, September 15, at 8 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) will host the fifth annual National Maternal & Infant Health Summit.

With a focus on the District’s investments in the overall health of women, babies, and families, the summit convenes DC residents, elected officials, health and education experts, media personalities, entertainers, and community-based partners to collaborate and explore strategies to improve perinatal health and address racial disparities in birth outcomes.

This year’s theme centers on three pillars: economic equity, health outcomes, and the culture of parenting.

The summit will include four panels, feature discussions, a special conversation with moms in media, community spaces, breakout sessions, live art from Positive Chalk DC, and movement breaks led by FIT DC powered by Aetna with music by DJ Farrah Flosscett.

The event starts at 8 am with breakfast, registration, and the resource fair. Programming, including the Mayor’s welcome, will begin at 9 am.
