(Washington, DC) – Mayor-Elect Muriel Bowser issued the following statement today regarding the unanimous Council approval of the new DC soccer stadium deal:
“It is a great day for DC residents and the future of soccer in the nation’s capital. We proved that only when we come together, can we move the District forward. Together, we delinked the Reeves Center allowing for greater community input on its fate and approved a soccer stadium that will create jobs, spur economic opportunity, and inject energy to a neighborhood on the banks of the Anacostia River. I cannot wait to get started. Vamos!”
