Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance for Monday, October 7, 2019-Sunday, October 13, 2019

This week, Mayor Bowser will highlight efforts to give more residents a fair shot at pathways to the middle class.
 

  • On Monday, Mayor Bowser will address a workshop hosted by Accenture and the Federal City Council focused on how employers, workforce development agencies, educational institutions, and nonprofits can help equip residents with the skills they need to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow.
     
  • On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will address the Penn Branch Citizens Civic Association General Body meeting.
     
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser and the Office of the Chief Technology Officer will host an event with ByteBack to provide free smart phone and computer trainings to DC seniors, ensuring they get counted in the digitally-enabled 2020 Census.
     
  • On Thursday, Mayor Bowser will highlight grants for the District’s Aspire to Entrepreneurship program, which supports returning DC citizens to open, own and operate their own businesses. Later, Mayor Bowser will attend the Fall 2019 Hacks n Flacks Happy Hour.
     
  • On Friday, Mayor Bowser will host an event with residents featured in the District’s new #FlipTheScript campaign, a positive visual campaign aimed to dispel common myths about men of color and tell the real stories of men of color as role models in their communities.
