Mayor Bowser will highlight #VisionZero Week with a series of events that demonstrate the Administration’s commitment to eliminating transportation-related fatalities and enhancing overall mobility safety by 2024, creating a safer, stronger DC for all.
- On Monday, Mayor Bowser will meet with senior Administration officials for a Vision Zero CapSTAT to identify and recommend solutions utilizing tools such as data analysis, mapping, business process reviews, and best practice research. After, the Mayor and a leading mobility company will make an announcement that will help transform the way the District of Columbia moves. In the evening, the Mayor will host a #ResumeRaiser, inviting professionals to explore career opportunities in District government.
- On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will host a Mayor-Council breakfast, which will include an update on Vision Zero and the Administration’s strategies to support cyclists, motorists, and pedestrians. Later that day, the Mayor will participate in a Slow Down campaign at Garfield Elementary School in Ward 8, reminding motorists to slow down and use caution, particularly around school zones.
- On Thursday, Mayor Bowser will announce a Traffic Safety Blitz to raise awareness about the dangers of double parking, blocking the box, obstructing bike lanes and other violations that threaten the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
- On Friday, Mayor Bowser will kick off the House of Ruth Kidspace Child and Family Development Center expansion project. Mayor Bowser will celebrate the $1.5 million in grant funding awarded thus far from the Access to Quality Child Care Expansion Grant, creating almost 250 high-quality seats for infants and toddlers. Later, the Mayor will present Urban One Founder and Chair, Cathy Hughes, with a Key To The City, honoring her legacy as a change maker, job creator and civic leader.
- On Saturday, Mayor Bowser will attend the Barnaby Woods Block Party.
- On Sunday, Mayor Bowser will celebrate the restoration of the alley between Dent Place and Reservoir Road, NW, a result of her ongoing AlleyPalooza initiative, with residents and local leaders of ANC 2E at the Dent Place Block Party.
