Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance for Monday, May 6, 2019 – Sunday, May 12, 2019

This week, Mayor Bowser will engage residents and participate in events highlighting critical investments in her Fiscal Year 2020 budget proposal that provide a #FairShot to residents in all eight wards.

  • On Monday, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at the 40th Annual Washington Area Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service to honor law enforcement professionals who sacrificed their lives in service to their communities. Later, Mayor Bowser will dedicate a gymnasium in memory of Lt. Kevin McRae, a 26-year veteran DC firefighter who was killed in the line of duty on May 6, 2015 while serving with Engine Company 6.
  • On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at Forest Hills of DC’s 130th Anniversary Celebration. Later, Mayor Bowser will meet with Ward 4 residents and discuss important issues like her FY 2020 budget proposal at the ANC 4A meeting.
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will highlight her Families First Initiative at the Find Your Future Citywide Resource and Empowerment Expo. Later, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at the Latin American Youth Center’s 51st Anniversary Gala. Lastly, Mayor Bowser will join Ward 3 residents at the Woodley Park Community Association’s Spring Membership Meeting.
  • On Thursday, Mayor Bowser will participate in a workforce training event, highlighting critical investments in job training programs and career readiness courses. Later, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at the 35th Annual District of Columbia Building Industry Association (DCBIA) Achievement Awards Dinner. Lastly, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at Access Youth’s 10th Annual Celebration.
  • On Friday, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at a housing rally and break ground on new affordable housing units in Ward 8. Later, Mayor Bowser will deliver remarks at McKinsey & Company’s annual “Values Day” event. 
  • On Saturday, Mayor Bowser attend the official opening of the new Apple store at historic Carnegie Library. In the afternoon, Mayor Bowser will celebrate the 2019 DC Funk Parade and Music Festival. Later, Mayor Bowser will cut the ribbon on the International Spy Museum’s new location in Southwest DC. Lastly, Mayor Bowser will attend the 64th Annual Trial Lawyers Association of Washington, DC Awards Dinner.
