Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance for Monday, March 4, 2019 – Sunday, March 10, 2019

This week, Mayor Bowser will highlight her commitment to economic prosperity and social justice for residents in all 8 wards. 

  • On Monday, Mayor Bowser promotes the new Early Learning Tax Credit, which she created to help DC families care for our youngest residents. 
     
  • On Tuesday, following her civil rights pilgrimage to Alabama with the Faith & Politics Institute, Mayor Bowser meets with House Committee on Oversight and Reform Chairman Elijah Cummings and U.S. Senators Tim Scott and Ron Johnson to discuss federal legislative priorities including DC Statehood. Later, in honor of Women’s Herstory Month, Mayor Bowser celebrates woman leaders at the 2019 Washington Women of Excellence Awards ceremony.
     
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser convenes the first ever District government managers meeting to discuss strategies to ensure the District builds and retains a skilled and diverse workforce.
     
  • Following, Mayor Bowser attends a room dedication at the new Busboys and Poets in downtown Anacostia. Mayor Bowser helped attract Busboys and Poets to Anacostia by investing $14M in partnership with the Far Southeast Strengthening Collaborative, which will now be headquartered at the same location. The official ribbon cutting will take place on Tuesday, March 12.
     
  • On Thursday, Mayor Bowser hosts the annual United Negro College Fund’s Washington Mayor’s Masked Ball Reception, supporting the educational success and professional development of African American students.
     
  • On Saturday, Mayor Bowser attends Sibley Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 17th Celebration of the Hope and Progress Gala.
