Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance for Monday, January 14, 2019 – Sunday, January 20, 2019

Monday, January 14, 2019
  • On Monday, Mayor Bowser will reflect on her first term and share her priorities for the next four years with District residents at the Second Term Outlook at Gallaudet University.
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will celebrate the graduation of paralegals within the Mayor’s Office of Returning Citizens Affairs. These paralegals are highly qualified, previously incarcerated men and women, who had all, through their incarceration experience, become adept at legal work and research, but who still could not find employment in the legal field because of the tremendous stigma and other barriers resulting from their pasts. Upon graduation, all graduates are signed on to be hired for a full-pay/full-benefit 1-year paralegal fellowship at some of the largest and most well-regarded law firms in the country. After the ceremony, the Mayor will lead residents and government officials on a community walk in Ward 6.
  • On Thursday, Mayor Bowser will kick off the application period for the 2019 Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program, providing District youth with enriching and constructive summer work experiences.
  • On Friday, Mayor Bowser will join Kojo Nnamdi on the Politics Hour, reflecting on her previous term and outlining her vision for the next four years. After, the Mayor will sign the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act of 2018, codifying the District as the nation’s preeminent leader in clean energy and climate action by setting a mandate of 100% renewable energy by the year 2032.
