Mayor Muriel Bowser will be sworn in as the first female, two-term Mayor in the District of Columbia on January 2, 2019.

  • On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will join hundreds of fellow DC residents running in her 5th annual #FITDC Fresh Start 5K along the scenic Capitol Riverfront, kicking off the new year by encouraging all District residents to make healthy lifestyle choices.
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will host an Interfaith Prayer Service with the Mayor’s Interfaith Council and other members of the faith community at the Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church. Following the service, the Mayor will be sworn in for a second term as the Mayor of the District of Columbia at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. After, the Mayor will then attend the swearing-in ceremony for ANC commissioners.
  • On Thursday, Mayor Bowser will kick off the construction for Good Food Markets, which will provide job opportunities and fresh food options to the Bellevue community in Ward 8. After, the Mayor will attend the first DC Democratic State Committee meeting of the year.
  • On Friday, Mayor Bowser and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton will host a Capitol Hill press availability as Rep. Norton introduces a DC Statehood bill with a record number of original cosponsors.
  • On Saturday, Mayor Bowser will celebrate the start of her second term as Mayor of the District of Columbia at The Anthem, hosting local entertainers, national artists, and other special guests.
