Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance - Monday, April 29, 2019 – Sunday, May 5, 2019

On Monday, Mayor Bowser will release the District’s first-ever resilience strategy, focused on preparing the city for 21st century challenges and promoting actions related to inclusive growth, climate, smart cities, health, public safety and equity. Later, Mayor Bowser will host the 33rd Annual Salute to DC Centenarians, a luncheon to honor the tremendous contributions to family, community, and Washington, DC made by more than 50 centenarians.

On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will join Members of Congress for an event to celebrate National Arab American History Month.

On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will announce her 2019 Summer Crime Prevention Initiative, which will identify areas in DC that have experienced a high density of violent crime. Throughout the summer months, MPD will then focus all available resources in a coordinated effort to curb violent crime in those areas. Following the announcement, Mayor Bowser will walk through the identified DC neighborhoods and provide residents with further information.

On Friday, Mayor Bowser will serve as Honorary Chair at the 80th Annual Flower Mart Benefit for the Gardens and Grounds of the National Cathedral. Later, Mayor Bowser will cut the ribbon of Two Birds, a new child care and co-working facility in Northwest DC.

On Saturday, Mayor Bowser will attend the Shepherd Elementary School’s Annual Spring Gala.
