Mayor Bowser Weekly Press Guidance Monday, April 1-Sunday, April 7

Building upon her budget rollout, Mayor Bowser will highlight education initiatives as well as transportation, environmental and cultural efforts to give all Washingtonians a #FairShot at prosperity.

  • On Monday, Mayor Bowser celebrates the Month of the Young Child, highlighting her commitment to early childhood learning, development, and literacy with a Read Across DC event. Mayor Bowser will then host senior advocates at the 2019 Senior Advocacy Coalition Advocacy Day to discuss strategies to ensure that DC residents of every age are active, connected, healthy, engaged and able to age safely in their own homes.
     
  • On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will cut the ribbon on a new Target Store in Shepherd Park, marking the expansion of jobs, amenities and resources to District residents.
     
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will launch the Street Sign replacement program, a new workforce training initiative designed to serve as a pipeline, connecting residents to employment opportunities in the District of Columbia.
     
  • On Thursday, Mayor Bowser will release the District’s first Cultural Plan, dedicated to the advancement of arts, humanities, culture and heritage in neighborhoods across the city by building upon and investing in the people, places, communities and ideas that define culture within DC.
     
  • On Saturday, Mayor Bowser will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Capitol City Little League Season Opener. Following the ball game, the Mayor will host her annual spring #TrashFreeDC Citywide Cleanup, making good on her commitment to prevent litter and help residents and businesses promote a clean, safe and healthy home.
