Mayor Bowser, U.S. Mayors, and CEOs to Launch U.S. Housing Investment Coalition

Wednesday, January 24, 2018
Advances Public-Private Partnerships that Tackle Affordable Housing, Homelessness, and Federal Funding Cuts

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, January 25 at 11 am, Mayor Bowser and U.S. Mayors across the nation will join a diverse set of powerful U.S. businesses to launch Mayors & CEOs for U.S. Housing Investment, a first-of-its-kind coalition of local government and business leaders collaborating to advance public-private partnerships that tackle affordable housing and homelessness and actively oppose current federal funding cuts.

This announcement follows Mayor Bowser’s affirmation this week that in her administration’s effort to make family homelessness rare, brief, and nonrecurring, the Mayor will close DC General.

Since coming into office, the Bowser Administration has sparked the preservation or production of more than 9,900 affordable units, with another 3,000 units in preconstruction. Mayor Bowser has made unprecedented investments in affordable housing using a tool known as the Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF), a revenue fund that provides gap financing for projects affordable to low and moderate income households.
