Mayor Bowser to Unveil the Modernized American Job Center Headquarters

As part of #ObviouslyDC, the Mayor will highlight Efforts to Train DC Residents for the Competitive Job Market

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, October 18, at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity (DMGEO) and the Department of Employment Services (DOES) to unveil the newly redesigned American Job Center Headquarters (AJC-HQ). Located at DOES, the restructured center is the result of extensive community outreach, creating a streamlined user-friendly experience for those seeking employment and training services. During the unveiling, Mayor Bowser and DOES Director Odie Donald II will present the Customer Service Bill of Rights – DOES’ commitment to world-class customer service delivery.

The AJC-HQ includes state-of-the-art equipment such as an automated ticketing reservation system, new assistive technology for residents with special needs, and expanded services for older youth. The AJC-HQ will also include representatives from the Office of Youth Programs, the Office of Unemployment Insurance, and Office of Wage-Hour Compliance. The remodeled AJC-HQ will open to the public on Monday, October 23.

The relaunch of AJC-HQ is part of #ObviouslyDC Week. Throughout the week, the Mayor will highlight why Washington, DC is the best city for Amazon HQ2 and celebrate programs and initiatives that are putting more Washingtonians on pathways to the middle class and spreading prosperity to every corner of the District.
