Mayor Bowser to Spotlight #FlipTheScript Campaign Highlighting Positive Images of Men of Color

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, October 11, at 12 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will deliver remarks at a #FlipTheScript event hosted by the Mayor’s Office on Fathers, Men, and Boys (MOFMB) at Howard University. At the event, the Mayor will highlight the #FlipTheScript advertising and social media campaign designed to combat negative imagery of men of color that frequent the media. Afterward, MOFMB Executive Director Jason Wallace will lead a panel discussion.

The initiative has posted ads at Metro stations, on buses, and on train cars throughout the District. MOFMB is encouraging residents to upload their proud “Daddy and Me” photos to social media using the hashtag #FlipTheScript. Social media influencers @TheBlackManCan, @TheDadGang, @StrongBlackFathers, @1JohnnyBailey, @Fatherhood_Fraternity, @DadIsntANoun, @SwaggerDad, and @Black.Fathers.Matter have participated to amplify the message.
