Mayor Bowser to Sign Bill to Fully Fund Metro

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, April 13, at 10 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will sign the Dedicated Funding for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Emergency Act of 2018. This legislation matches Mayor Bowser’s proposal of $178.5 million per year in dedicated funding from Fiscal Year 2019 through Fiscal Year 2059 for the purposes of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). The bill establishes the WMATA Dedicated Funding Fund, administered by Mayor Bowser, which will receive retail sales tax revenue for the purposes of dedicated funding to WMATA. Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans wrote the Dedicated Funding for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority Emergency Act of 2018 and the legislation was passed unanimously by the Council.
