(Washington, DC) On Monday, October 29, at 12 pm, Mayor Bowser will release the “Age-Friendly DC 2023 Strategic Plan” at a red-carpet event. The event will be held at the historic Avalon Theatre in Ward 3, which has been recognized as an Age-Friendly Business for the steps they have taken to be accessible and inclusive for people of all ages and abilities. Popcorn and lunch will be served and, for those who are interested in staying after the free public event, movie tickets will be available at an age-friendly discount rate of $5.
Age-Friendly DC is a coordinated, comprehensive, and collective-action effort with the goal of ensuring all DC residents are active, connected, healthy, engaged, and happy in their environment. Last fall, the District was recognized as a top Age-Friendly City by the World Health Organization (WHO) and AARP.
