On Friday morning, Mayor Muriel Bowser will join officials from the Environment Protection Agency Region III, the District Department of Energy & Environment, the District Department of Transportation, the District Department of General Services, and the Chesapeake Bay Trust to reopen a section of O Street, NW, between 1st and 3rd Streets that has been closed to residents since 1977. The section of road is a “Green Street” that will capture thousands of gallons of storm water and help protect area streams and rivers. In the afternoon, Mayor Bowser will attend the Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) young professional hiring event at Gallaudet University.
