Mayor Bowser to Play Pickleball and Highlight Budget Investments Expanding Access to Recreation for ALL

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, March 30 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser, the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and the Department of Aging and Community Living (DACL) will host an event highlighting Mayor Bowser’s proposed budget investments in recreation, including pickleball. Pickleball has been a rapidly growing sport nationally, especially amongst seniors. Following a brief program, Mayor Bowser will take part in a pickleball demonstration. 
 
The Mayor’s proposed Fiscal Year 2024 budget includes $750,000 for four new pickleball courts and invests $14.2 million in Recreation for ALL, which increases and expands DPR’s programming and addresses the District's growing recreation needs.
