(Washington, DC) – On Monday, July 1, at 11:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will mark the third increase to the minimum wage under the #Fightfor15 legislation that she introduced and championed in 2016. Effective July 1, 2019, the District’s minimum wage will increase from $13.25 to $14.00 per hour, and the minimum wage for tipped workers will increase from $3.89 to $4.45.
In 2016, as part of her commitment to create pathways to the middle class for Washingtonians across all eight wards, the Mayor signed the Fair Shot Minimum Wage Amendment Act of 2016 into law to raise the District’s minimum wage to $15.00 per hour by 2020.
