A Citywide Effort to Support Early Childhood Development in Honor of Child Care Week in Washington, DC

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Monday, May 1 at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by HyeSook Chung, Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services, and Jennifer Niles, Deputy Mayor for Education, to launch Thrive by Five DC – a citywide initiative to ensure DC families are connected with the wide range of early childhood health and education resources offered by the District. At the center of the initiative is ThriveByFive.dc.gov, the District’s first comprehensive child health and early learning website. ThriveByFive.dc.gov is a one-stop service center to help parents and caretakers navigate the city’s wide range of early health programs and learning resources such as: maternal and child health, behavioral health, literacy, early education, and intervention.

Highlighting the importance of early learning, Mayor Bowser's Fiscal Year 2018 Budget Proposal includes a $15.3 million investment in child care across Washington, DC over the next three years.
