(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, June 14, at 10:30 am., Mayor Muriel Bowser will launch Text to 911, a new service by the Office of Unified Communications (DC 911) for DC residents to request emergency services through texting. Text to 911 will improve accessibility for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, have a speech disability, or if a voice call to 911 might be dangerous or impossible.
Text to 911 is a part of the Back to Basics DC campaign, a celebration of the day-to-day work that keeps Washington, DC going. Mayor Bowser will continue to highlight the work of DC government employees, showcase innovations in service delivery, and share information about how the community can help the government keep Washington, DC a great place to call home.
