(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, April 19, at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will launch the Right Care, Right Now initiative, which connects 911 callers with less serious and non-life-threatening injuries and conditions to primary care providers near their homes. With the addition of a nurse triage line to the Office of Unified Communications, The DC Fire and EMS Department (FEMS) will be arranging same day transportation to a neighborhood doctor’s office to some 911 callers. There are currently 23 medical clinics and urgent care facilities participating in Right Care, Right Now.
The initiative will increase the availability of FEMS resources to respond, care for, and transport 911 callers with more serious and life-threatening injuries to hospital emergency departments.
