(Washington, DC) – On Monday, February 5, at 4 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will continue Education Week and launch Learn24, a new initiative to ensure children and youth have access to quality educational and enrichment activities beyond the regular school day. Learn24, managed out of the Office of Out of School Time and housed within the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education, includes a new website with resources for students and families to find safe, enriching opportunities to learn outside of regular school hours in their communities.
Mayor Bowser kicked off Education Week this past Friday by releasing the solicitation for space to open new child care centers in the three District-owned buildings. In addition to identifying space in three District-owned buildings that will be leased to private child care providers to provide affordable, high-quality care, the Mayor also announced that the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) will administer the grants to child care providers and provide a $1 to $1 match in capital loans to the District’s $9 million investment.
Education Week will be marked by a series of events that highlight how the Bowser Administration is supporting students and accelerating the pace of school reform in DC. Follow the conversation at #EDWeekDC.
