Mayor Bowser to Launch DC’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative on Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Monday, January 16 at 10 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will launch DC’s My Brother’s Keeper Initiative, answering President Obama’s call, to provide programming to promote justice, education, health, and opportunities for boys and men of color. Mayor Bowser will swear-in Martin Luther King, Jr. Commissioners as My Brother’s Keeper Ambassadors to represent the values of the program. Seeking to develop coalitions with public and private sector leaders, My Brother’s Keeper DC is part of President Obama’s MBK Community Challenge to implement evidence-based strategies to create equal opportunities for boys and young men of color.

Following the launch, the Mayor will host the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Parade at 12 pm. Starting location will be at the R.I.S.E Demonstration Center, 2730 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.
