Mayor Bowser to Kick Off Phase 2 of The Wharf with Community Celebration and Family Fun Day

Washington, DC–On Saturday, March 30, at 1 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will kick off Phase 2 of The Wharf, the new mile-long neighborhood of residential, hotel, office, retail and entertainment space on the Southwest Waterfront.
  
Mayor Bowser invested approximately $200 million in tax increment financing and secured agreements with The Wharf to hire at least 51 percent of Washingtonians – 20 percent designated for Ward 8 residents; 30 percent of apprenticeships for Wards 7 and 8 residents; and The Wharf invested $1 million in workforce training for District residents. At full build out, Phase 2 of The Wharf will complete the remaining 1.25 million square feet of new mixed-use development, including office, residential, hotel, marina, and retail space, as well as parks and public places. 
 
The community celebration will include a “Truck Touch” featuring DC Government and construction vehicles, live music and performances, kids craft activities and sidewalk games.
