Mayor to Also Join MLB & US Conference of Mayors at Kickoff of Play Ball Park

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, July 13, at 8:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will kick off the MLB All-Star Week festivities with the MLB All-Star FanFest. MLB All-Star Fanfest is the largest interactive baseball theme park in the world, where for five days, baseball and softball fans have the opportunity to meet MLB Legends, get free autographs, receive daily giveaways and more. The MLB All-Star Week will begin on July 13th with the All-Star FanFest and will conclude with the MLB All-Star Game at Nationals Park on July 17th at 8 pm.

Mayor Bowser will also join MLB and the US Conference of Mayors (USCM) at 10 am to kick off Play Ball Park where DC area youth, including children from Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) camps, will participate in baseball drills and other games. On June 20, 2015, MLB and the USCM launched the Play Ball initiative, which focuses on the sport of baseball and encourages sustained participation in the sport for years to come.
