Mayor Bowser to Kick Off Healthcare Open Enrollment Period

Tuesday, October 31, 2017
DC Residents Have Three Months to Sign Up for Healthcare Coverage

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Wednesday, November 1, at 10:30 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will kick-off open enrollment for health insurance at DC Health Link, the District’s state-based health insurance exchange established under the Affordable Care Act. DC Health Link provides health insurance to approximately 18,000 residents through the individual marketplace and more than 76,000 residents through the small business marketplace. To sign-up for health insurance during open enrollment, DC residents can enroll at dchealthlink.com by January 31, 2018.

Washington, DC has one of the lowest uninsured rates across the nation, with more than 96 percent of District residents covered. DC Health Link was awarded first place in the nation for its strong consumer shopping tools, beating the federal marketplace. The exchange also won the Amazon Web Services’ 2016 Best Practices in Innovation Award and was recognized by PR Week for community outreach efforts.

The kickoff of the DC Health Link open enrollment period is part of DC’s #GetCovered, #StayCovered efforts to eliminate barriers to obtain health insurance and encourage all residents to sign up or re-enroll for coverage.
