(Washington, DC) – On Friday, January 31, at 12 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will kick off the application period for youth and employers who want to participate in the 2020 Mayor Marion S. Barry Summer Youth Employment Program (MBSYEP). Applications for MBSYEP will officially open at noon on Friday, January 31, for District youth between the ages of 14 and 24, and employers who wish to serve as host sites. Since 2015, the Bowser Administration has secured approximately $5 million dollars from private sector and federal partners to support the MBSYEP youth.
This year’s application launch will highlight MBSYEP partnerships with five federal financial regulatory agencies under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act (FIRREA): the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Housing Financial Agency (FHFA), the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
