(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that her Administration will participate in an historic international partnership of leaders committed to addressing climate change and its dangerous impacts. Mayor Bowser also announced that Washington, DC will host mayors and city sustainability directors as part of the Our Cities, Our Climate international mayoral exchange convened by US Secretary of State John Kerry and UN Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Cities and Climate Change Michael Bloomberg.
“Climate change affects us all, and mayors are developing innovative solutions that address this growing global challenge” said Mayor Bowser. “The District of Columbia is leading the way on sustainability and green energy, and we are proud to host mayors from around the world for OC2. I applaud my fellow mayors for their leadership, and I thank Secretary John Kerry and Mike Bloomberg for convening these discussions”
Our Cities, Our Climate – or OC2 – is a Bloomberg Philanthropies and US Department of State partnership that convenes an international conversation for mayors around the world. The exchange will bring together international city sustainability officials, US officials, and US organizations to share best practices, discuss solutions, and ultimately accelerate the progress the world’s cities are making to address this global challenge.
