Mayor Bowser to Join Opening Ceremony of the In America: Remember Exhibition Program on National Mall

Art Exhibit Commemorating Pandemic Toll That Will Blanket 20 Acres of the National Mall With Over 660,000 White Flags

(Washington, DC) – On Friday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser will join an array of dignitaries at the Opening Ceremony for artist Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg’s In America: Remember, a public art installation commemorating all Americans who have died due to COVID-19. The art installation will feature more than 660,000 white flags on 20 acres of the National Mall at the base of the Washington Monument for two weeks. The exhibition will occur concurrently in the digital sphere, allowing families across the nation to submit messages to personalize flags for their loved ones at inamericaflags.org.
