District's education fair showcases more than 200 public schools

(Washington, DC) – Tomorrow, December 12, 2015, Mayor Muriel Bowser, Deputy Mayor for Education Jennie Niles, DCPS Chancellor Kaya Henderson, and DC Public Charter School Board Executive Director Scott Pearson will join thousands of District families at EdFEST 2015.

EdFEST is the District’s only citywide public school fair. Families can talk to representatives from over 200 District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools across the city and get help finding the best fit for their child. Families may also take advantage of critical services, including flu shots for adults and immunization and dental screenings for children, administered through the District Department of Health (DOH). The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) will offer sports and games, and the District of Columbia Public Library (DCPL) will have a story time booth for younger children. The Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) will also be on-hand with their Mobile Tech Lab to provide information on low-cost internet and other technology services available to District residents.

EdFEST is also the kickoff to the MySchool DC Common Lottery application which opens December 14, 2015 for school year 2016-17.
