Mayor Bowser to Join 5,000 Students and Family Members at EdFEST 2018, DC’s Annual Public School Fair

More Than 200 DCPS and Public Charter Schools will Host Informational Booths to Help Families Learn about the Wide-Array of DC’s PK3-12 Options

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, December 8, at 12 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser and District of Columbia education leaders will showcase more than 200 DC public and public charter schools at EdFEST 2018, DC’s annual public school informational fair. Approximately 5,000 students, family members, and other guests are expected to attend.

EdFEST is a showcase of schools where families can talk to representatives from every DC Public School (DCPS) and public charter school across the District and get help finding the best educational fit for their child. Families may also take advantage of information on critical services and fun activities including:

  • Lottery application information and guidance from the My School DC team.
  • Flu shots for adults and immunization and dental screenings for children, administered through the District Department of Health and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital.
  • Recreational activities for all ages by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), including information about DPR Fun Days, Winter and Spring Break Camps, and Cooperative Play.
  • Story time with DC Public Library as well as library card registration and sign-ups for the Books from Birth program.

Interpretation is available in American Sign Language, Spanish, Amharic, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and French throughout the day.
