Mayor Bowser to Host San Salvador Mayor Ernesto Muyshondt to Celebrate First Anniversary of Historic Sister City Partnership

(Washington, DC) – On Tuesday, August 20, at 5:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host Mayor Ernesto Muyshondt of San Salvador, El Salvador for a celebration of the first anniversary of the Sister City Agreement between Washington, DC and San Salvador.

In 2018, the cities signed an agreement to establish a cooperative relationship in the areas of economic development, youth development, public safety, sustainability, culture, education and government collaboration. As a result of the agreement, a new digital library in San Salvador was funded through a partnership between the MCN Build Foundation in Washington, DC, and the San Salvador mayor’s office, and construction began on August 13, 2019. In addition, Carlos Rosario Public Charter School and Instituto Tecnológico Centroamericano (ITCA-FEPADE) established an exchange training program in culinary arts between teachers and students at both institutions.
