Mayor Bowser to Host Press Call on Cuba Visit

While in Cuba on an exploratory mission with leaders from the Washington region, Mayor Bowser will participate in a call with members of the media on Monday, February 22 at 7 pm EST.

On Saturday, February 20, Mayor Muriel Bowser and Washington regional leaders will travel to Cuba on an exploratory mission. This mission will lay the groundwork for future relationships and potential economic and cultural opportunities with the island nation.  The mission also serves as a platform for the regional delegation to learn best practices and showcase the Washington metropolitan area’s strengths in transportation, tourism, health, and education. While in Cuba, Mayor Bowser will meet with Martha Hernandez Romero, Mayor of Havana; Jeffrey DeLaurentis, Charge d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Cuba; Bruno Eduardo Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Roberto Morales Ojeda, Minister of Public Health; Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban Minister of Tourism; Dr. Mariela Castro, Director of research institution CENESEX; and other Cuban healthcare leaders. Mayor Bowser will also visit the University of Havana, the Solidarity with Panama special needs school, and the Rancho Boyeros public school.
