Mayor Bowser to Host Annual Mayor's Arts Awards

On Thursday, September 14, at 7 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host the annual Mayor’s Arts Awards to honor artists, teachers, nonprofit organizations and patrons of the arts and humanities in Washington, DC. As part of 202Creates, a citywide effort to showcase the District’s diverse and vibrant creative community through an array of events throughout the month of September, Mayor Bowser will recognize recipients in the following categories: Excellence in the Creative Industries; Excellence in the Humanities; The Larry Neal Writer’s Award; Excellence in Arts Education; Excellence in Visual Arts; and Excellence in Performing Arts.

The Mayor will also present the Honor Awards, the highest achievements of recognition, to the following individuals:

  • Wilhelmina Cole Holladay, Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Ari Roth, Visionary Leadership Award
  • Davey Yarborough, Distinguished Honor Award

202Creates highlights artists, makers, tastemakers, and entrepreneurs who contribute to the city’s creative economy. Led by DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment (OCTFME) and DC Commission on Arts and Humanities (CAH), 202Creates engages residents through events and activities that feature the various talents of the DC creative community from television, film, music, arts, dance, fashion, cosmetology, culinary, tech, and much more.
