School-Based Public Safety Initiative Will Increase Access to Behavioral Intervention, Mental Health Supports, and Treatment Services

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, October 3, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will be joined by public safety and education officials to announce the Safer Stronger DC Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement’s (ONSE) Leadership Academy – a school-based initiative aimed at promoting school and community safety by providing wraparound services and intensive mentorship through direct engagement with students and their families.

Launched in August 2019, the ONSE Leadership Academy partnered with DC Public Schools (DCPS) to integrate community supports and services to address social, economic, health, and behavioral challenges that may impact the needs and success of at-risk students.
